Strong and compostable vacuum bags-great!

I like the potential for composting the used bags, if your area has the facility to do so.The rolls come in 2 sizes, that you seal the ends to the length you desire, for what your need at hand may be, so flexibility in usage, that is a necessity to accommodate your choice of object to seal into pouch.I very much like the markings on both sides of the long sides of the pouches, it helped me align the end of the bag with my sealing machine's heat strip, this really helped my seal the chili up project go smoothly and quickly, from cutting the desired length to form the pouch, to the final seal, I enjoyed working with these bags immensely. The printed lines were a huge help in cutting the length of sealing pouch pretty straight across the top, instead of the usual less than stellar results It's get without the visual clue.I tasked the bags with sealing up a vast batch of turkey chili; 5 lbs turkey, #10 cans of crushed tomatoes & red kidney beans. Please check out my pictures, they are happily in my big freezer and I'm so glad to have these pouches, that you custom fit to your specific need.I checked up on them in the freezer, they are intact, seams are tight and good, and can't wait to enjoy this batch over our long, Upstate NY winter!

Just what I ordered.

need 11 x 16 rolls sold separately or only that size bundles

would give a 5; however you need to sell the 11 x 16 in a bundle. I do not use the smaller rolls at all for any of my products. I am almost 88% compostable packaging and I so use the precut 11 x16 but I have some artisend breads that need a bit more room. I suggest that you sell the 11 x 16 in roll format either bundles or by themselves

Probably should be lower than 3 stars...Received rolls April 22, 2026 with about 42% of useful life left! Ordered 4/19/26, Manufactured 2025-06 with 'Best Buy' 18 months after mfr. = 2026-12. Had similar issue with Biobags order at Amazon with 66% life left...they reimbursed me for lost use. Amazon order was also missing 100' or so of 1440' length, so VestaEco's missing 1.5" of 16' roll is no big deal, just a little 'cheap.' Reason I ordered from company instead of Amazon was to avoid these games. Bags are working, but I do double seal per complaints in reviews. Anova rolls seem a little better... No biggy, but disappointing.

Impressed With the Eco-Friendly Performance!

I recently switched to VestaEco Compostable Vacuum Seal bags, and I’m genuinely impressed. I was looking for a more sustainable alternative to regular vacuum seal bags, and these delivered without sacrificing performance. They seal tightly and keep food fresh just as well as the traditional plastic bags I’ve used in the past. I’ve used them for everything from meal prepping to storing meats and veggies, and everything stays fresh longer in the fridge and freezer. What really stands out is that they’re compostable — it feels good knowing I’m reducing plastic waste without dealing with flimsy material. They’re thicker and sturdier than I expected, and they work smoothly with my vacuum sealer. If you’re trying to be more conscious about waste but still want airtight food storage, this is a great choice. I’ll definitely be buying these again!

Press enter, they work!

I bought a Vacmaster chamber sealer and had no intention of making my precious new toy the source of more plastic garbage. This is the singular company, to my knowledge, that offers compostable vac sealer bags to the public. They even ship in cardboard which is recyclable. Attention to detail!I bought the rolls, I have an impulse sealer to secure the ends, (I highly recommend getting one) and they allow me to customize length as required. This material is sturdy, reliable, holds its seal, and leaves me with peace of mind knowing I am stewarding the earth in this little way. I have detected no strange flavors in my foods and the rolls smell neutral out of the box.I use a craft cutter to measure and cut the bags I need, simple and easy, just keep one with your machine. In short, these are fantastic bags, and yes, wholly worth those few extra bucks.Note: If sealing sharp edged foods (bones, pre-frozen yum yums) you'll need some bone guard, same as regular plastic vac bags.

Don’t buy this

Horrible, these do not hold a vacuum seal for even 5 minutes. I can hear and see the air rush into the bag the minute I stop vacuuming. I don’t know if it’s the sides that leak or the material itself.

Hard to use and don’t seal well

I won’t order these again! They don’t seal well and they are a pain to try and work with. One I cut the to the size I need the edges roll and they just don’t stay sealed! I will finish using them but won’t order them again.

Work just like the ones that come with the machine

I guess you can call me a "Save the Planet Freak." I try to only use biodegradable/compostable plastics. These fit the bill! I have 2 different vacuum sealers from different brands and these work perfectly in both. I've been using them for a while now and could not be happier. Highly recommended

Please offer the 8” rolls separately!

EDIT: It’s been almost a year and I still love these bags. I stay fairly on top of rotating my freezer stock so nothing stays in there for insanely long, but I do have a handful of sealed broth cubes that are going on ~8 months. Have yet to see any freezer burn or seal failure on them. I do hate that you can’t buy the smaller rolls separately though. I go through 8” rolls at 3x the rate of the larger ones—I can’t justify paying for more sets of mixed sizes when I’m still hobbling my way through the 11” from my original order. It’s a shame as VestaEco seems to be the only brand that makes compostable bag rolls. The others only offer pre-cut.—These eco-friendly bags have been a game changer for my food and freezer storage. I used to rely on regular plastic vacuum sealer bags because I was scared of wasting money on compostable ones that wouldn’t work with my FoodSaver. When these popped up on Vine, I jumped at the chance to try a more sustainable option at a lower risk. One caveat: these are only commercially compostable, so you’ll need to check if your local waste facilities accept them. That said I’ve done a little research on the topic and even if disposed of in a landfill, they seem to be a more environmentally-friendly choice than traditional plastic.Functionally, they work just as well—if not better—than my regular bags. They seem to seal more reliably with my FoodSaver vacuum sealer, which is a huge plus since my previous ones often had trouble there. After about four months of use, I haven’t noticed any decline in their ability to preserve food.I primarily use them for freezing one-cup portions in “souper” cubes or flat lays of cooked beans, sauces, and other meal prep essentials. The variety of sizes in the pack has also been a pleasant surprise—the smaller, skinnier bags are perfect for sealing those one-cup cubes without unnecessary waste.I absolutely plan on purchasing these through regular avenues once I run out. They help me reduce plastic waste, perform just as well as conventional bags, and most importantly, fulfill their purpose by keeping my food fresh and freezer burn-free.

Compstable!

I was happy to find that there is an affordable compostable version of the supplies needed for my vacuum sealer

Work well in our rather old Seal-a-Meal machine.

I do think they take just a bit longer to draw down the vacuum to the “hands free” point than the other brand we’ve been using. The rough side seems not quite as textured as the other brand so I suspect it’s taking the air a bit longer to migrate out. But, this isn’t a problem and they seal properly and maintain the vacuum over time.Another difference from other brands, I noticed that these bags are milky or translucent. They are transparent enough that you can tell what’s in them but they are not clear. The larger bags could potentially find non-food uses at our house. Certain craft and woodworking steps need a way to keep pressure on small items. They can also compress some soft items for storage or mailing.I can’t assess the “compostable” claim but if it’s valid then these are the way to go. Our world has WAY too much plastic that will almost NEVER go away.

V Vesta Bags: Great for food cooking and storage and non-traditional storage applications as well

I got the V Vesta Precision Compostable Vacuum Sealer Bags to keep my frozen food from looking as frosty as the two remaining characters in the last scene of John Carpenter’s movie, “The Thing.” I had to invest in a vacuum sealer that both “seals” (this feature is critical since the V Vesta bags are ‘”open” on both ends) and “vacuum and seals.”The V Vesta sealer bags are sturdy. I like the customizable size option, plus the two roll sizes – eight inches wide and eleven inches wide. Although the V Vesta bags do not have a dedicated space to write the contents and date pertaining to an enclosed item, I discovered that the “rough” side of the bag will accept writing.I learned that one can use a ball point pen, a gel pen, a Vis a Vis wet erase marker, and a Marks A Lot marker to add information about the contents of the bag on the rough side of the bag. The best writing instruments in terms of writing on the bag are a Vis A Vis marker followed closely by a ball point pen. A Vis a Vis marker leaves a bolder print and therefore easily to view information. The gel pen is a good option, but the ball point pen is better. A Marks A Lot marker works but its liquid composition does not interact well with the compostable materials of the V Vesta bags. The V Vesta bags are great for storage and cooking. They have earned five stars.

PLA material - commerically compostable

I just got a vacuum machine, but one of the things I really didn't like about it was the use of plastic. These compostable vacuum bags made of BPA free PLA material are made of a material that is commercially compostable (on average it takes about 12 weeks). This is a game changer for me for vacuum sealing to reduce the use of plastic. There are 5 rolls - 2 8"x20 feet - good for making smaller packages, and 3 11" x 16 ft. which is good for larger things. They came in a cardboard box and the rolls were held shut with Washi tape (Washi tape is made from renewable resources like paper, soy, and water, and can be composted). So the entire package was environmentally friendly. The box was taped though - they should change that to washi too. So this is definitely a greener alternative to traditional plastic bags.It does have a different hand feel, and I am not sure how good it works for extended Sous vide times (72 hr etc), will post updated review when I make something that long.

reliable, heavy-duty, BPA-free

Compostable Vacuum Sealer Bags, 5 Pack 2 Rolls 8" x 20' and 3 Rolls 11" x 16', Eco-Friendly, Heavy-Duty Food Storage Bags, BPA-Free, for Storage, Meal Prep or Sous Vide. I recently used the Compostable Vacuum Sealer Bags, and I am thoroughly impressed with their performance and eco-friendly features. These bags come in a convenient pack of five rolls, with two rolls measuring 8" x 20' and three rolls at 11" x 16'. As someone who values sustainability, these compostable bags are a game-changer. They are heavy-duty and BPA-free, making them safe for food storage, meal prep, and even sous vide cooking. The bags are incredibly durable, sealing tightly to keep food fresh for longer periods. I used them to store leftovers, and the vacuum seal kept everything as fresh as the day I cooked it. Additionally, the compostable material aligns with my efforts to reduce plastic waste, providing an environmentally responsible alternative to traditional plastic vacuum sealer bags. Using these bags for sous vide cooking was seamless. They withstood the heat and maintained their integrity, ensuring my meals were cooked to perfection without any plastic-related concerns. The versatility of these bags is remarkable, suitable for various storage needs while being kind to the planet. I highly recommend the Compostable Vacuum Sealer Bags for anyone looking to enhance their food storage solutions with a sustainable and effective product.

Works well.

Bags came in a large cardboard box, each roll was rolled tight and secure with some tape. Bags are high quality and thick but has a different feel to my non compostable bags, has a more brittle feeling to them.Works the same way as any sealer bag I've used and seals tight with my vacuum sealer. I really like how the bags has marking to help you cut them straight.I can't say how well they compost but they do feel different than traditional bags. The box it came in states that its made out of PLA resin, If your familiar with 3d printing PLA does degrade/compost but it takes a very long time.
