I've been using this vacuum sealer to stock up the freezer with items on sale or pre-cooked meals. When I placed it on the countertop, I was quite impressed at how sleek it looks with its gleaming stainless steel exterior. It has a 5mm wide sealing wire and 12.2-inch width seal bar, which means it can seal big bags quickly and easily, and I always get perfect results. The vacuum bags that come with the sealer have channels on one side of the bag enabling the vacuum sealer to do a perfect job.The bags that are supplied come in a convenient double roll box which dispenses both 8-inch or 11-inch wide bags that can be cut to any length (using a slide cutter on the box). When I need to pack foods that I'll be removing small quantities from and then resealing, I cut the bag length longer than what's needed. This way, I have extra length to work with when it's time to reseal the bag.The handle button is designed to be easy to use, so I can get the job done quickly. The electromagnetic lock is a great feature that makes sealing bags effortless. I’ve used vacuum sealers before in which you need to apply pressure for a successful seal, but this sealer locks down and begins a countdown until it automatically releases the lock after a few seconds. This takes the hard work and guessing out of the job. It also enables you to do a succession of sealed bags by quick use of the button on the handle. The vacuum sealer has a small removable tray where the sealing bar is for the vacuum bag, so if any liquid leaks up from the bag during the sealing process, the tray can just be removed and rinsed off at the sink. The unit has a side port for accessories such as a marinate function that’s accomplished with a separate switch on top that provides a pulsing vacuum. It includes the air tube to connect to a marinade accessory (something you supply, like a large canning jar). If you have a vacuum cover which seals Mason jars, you can also use it with this accessory port for dry vacuum sealing foods such as walnuts, pecans, raisins, garden seeds, grains, beans, spices and herbs, etc. Just think of items you buy that come vacuum packed and you’ll have an idea of foods you can store this way.Vacuum packaging foods in jars or bags helps retain the quality of stored food because it keeps out moisture, air, mold and moths. If you’re freezing the food, it provides a barrier from the harsh dry air of the freezer, preventing freezer burn. And these bags can be used for cooking, too, so that means you can make boil-in-bag prepare-ahead meals, or do sous-vide cooking, or just defrost right in the bag. If you’re on a portion control diet, it can help to weigh and portion out meals in advance, too. This pro vacuum sealer looks and operates better than any vacuum sealer I’ve used in the past (and I’ve used quite a few). It creates a strong leak-proof seal and provides an excellent vacuum with ease. I would highly recommend this vacuum sealer to anyone who is looking to save money when preserving food at home.
